Itemized deductions for medical and dental.
Depending in your income you may or may not be able to deduct medical and/or dental expenses.
The formula is stated in this first section of the form.
Taxes you paid:
Write in your state and local taxes paid as well as sales tax, real estate tax and other taxes plus there is a section to determine what you can deduct from new motor vehicle taxes paid.
Interest you paid:
Home mortgage interest and points, mortgage insurance premiums, Investment interest. Use special forms for these.
Gifts To Charity:
Gifts by cash or check. See instructions if it is over a certain mount.
If the amount ( could change each year) is above the stated amount on the Schedule A form for that year then you would need to file form 8283.
Casualty Theft and Losses:
Attach Form 4694
Job expense and certain miscellaneous expense:
Un reimbursed employee expenses ie: job, union dues, travel, job education, etc. Attach form 2106 or 2106EZ.
Don't forget tax preparation fees from the previous filing in this same tax year.
Other expenses such as expenses, safe deposit box, etc.
List type and amount.
There is space to list other expenses and then you get to the bottom of the form where you add and find you "Total Itemized Deductions".
